About
Composer, saxophonist, vocalist, and private instructor Erik M Anderson has a passion for music of diverse genres. A fan of jazz, rock, and hip hop, his music often features driving rhythm and expressive melodies. One can also hear the impact of composers Leonard Bernstein, Samuel Barber, and Igor Stravinsky. Creating music that is both personally meaningful and satisfying to the listener is of great importance to him.

Anderson is a regular performer in the Minot, ND and surrounding area. His flagship group, Blue House, is a jazz-fusion project capable of a wide range of music, from traditional dixieland to funk-rock fusion. The band has collaborated with local rap artist, Dakotah Faye, in live concerts, with arrangements of his songs scored by Anderson. He also has been the horn-section leader for Myles Barcomb & The Sweet Dreams since 2020. Recordings of that band, featuring Anderson's saxophone and backing vocals, are available on streaming services.

Premieres of Anderson’s concert works have been heard in both the US and Europe. Two of his orchestral works have been premiered by the Minot Symphony Orchestra, Prologue in 2018, and Concerto Nova for electric cello in 2022. The latter has also been performed at BHS in Bismarck, ND and by the Cambrian Symphony Orchestra in San Francisco, CA on their 2024 season. Recently, Mushroom Songs, a cycle for bass voice and piano, was premiered at Lawrence Conservatory in Appleton, WI. He has also had premieres by Pittsburgh-based string quartet, Beo, and faculty members of LA Tech University in Ruston, LA. Currently, a commission for the Minot Chamber Chorale is underway for their Christmas Rennaissance Feast program.
